Birch Portage Evacuation Support

Evacuation date:  May 27 – June 9, 2025

If you were evacuated from Birch Portage First Nation due to wildfire, there is support available to you. Please see below to find out what support you are qualified for. 

Emergency Financial Support

If you are a Birch Portage First Nation resident and were over the age of 18 on June 20, 2025, you will receive $500 in Emergency Financial Assistance. The SPSA is working with the community leadership to distribute these funds. More information on how to receive your payment will be available shortly. 

Food Support

Birch Portage First Nation is supported by the Canadian Red Cross. The Canadian Red Cross is operating reception centres in Saskatoon and Prince Albert. Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation and Lac La Ronge Indian Band community members who are still evacuated can reach the Canadian Red Cross by calling 1-800-863-6582, between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily, or by visiting www.redcross.ca/2025SaskatchewanWildfires for more information.
