Requesting SPSA Assistance
If you are a responding agency, such as a municipality, town, village or First Nations band, and in need of assistance from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA), please complete the SPSA Request for Assistance Form and submit it to your nearest Response Centre Area Office.
Guidance
The SPSA can provide assistance to local authorities responding to an emergency.
The local authority will retain responsibility for the emergency unless it is turned over to the SPSA in writing.
All requests for assistance will be assessed. The SPSA's resources are managed at the provincial level and deployed based on need and availability.
If air support is required, Agency staff will control the air operations until aircrafts are no longer needed.
Eligibility
Responding agencies, including municipalities, towns, villages and First Nation band offices, can request the SPSA's assistance once mutual aid agreements are exhausted.
Information on the rules and regulations on aircrafts on wildfires as well as the costs associated with them can be found in the Aircraft on Wildfires document.
The SPSA will consider recovering costs for any assistance provided outside of its jurisdiction.
For more information, check out the SPSA Response Capacity page.
